a good afternoon

As said in my previous post, i’ve been having troubles fully getting used to my new jobless life.  And i still am having troubles now, although i would say i’m slowly getting there.  Had a very nice friday afternoon yesterday.  Had planned to wake up early in the morning and go down to the gym (the cheapskate in me was sooo happy to have found out that it costs only 5 bucks to go to the gym on weekdays before 3pm, and i plan to go down there everyday!!) but woke up too late in the end.  Had lunch with some ex-colleagues.  Then i started enjoying my afternoon alone.

Went to spoil cafe on sun street to read my book.  The coffee there is good (even though this old tart can only have decaf anytime after noon).  But i didn’t stay there for too long because the place there was so small and i was the only one there and i felt like my every move was being scrutinized (this is where my intimacy issue and love of being anonymous kicked in).  There are a few very interesting, cool shops on sun street though.

Then i started walking towards the direction of causeway bay.  All the way i was feeling extremely relaxed and did not have any care in my head.  As corny as it sounds, everything looks different as how they used to look.  I’m looking at things with a totally different perspective now.  It’s amazing how much more beautiful the world is when you have a lighter heart, when you open up the space in your heart to take in the things surrounding you.  It’s not exaggerating to say i was almost hopping instead of walking.

I stopped by a little shop in wanchai for a bowl of rice vermicelli, yunnan style.  Oh that was a good bowl of vermicelli.

My final stop was citysuper in times square to get my whole wheat flour and dry yeast.  Yes, my next project is to try baking bread!

All in all, it was an afternoon well spent!
